 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LIGHT

     Light plays a central role in our lives. At its most fundamental level, light through photosynthesis is at the origin of life itself. The study of light has led to promising alternative energy sources, life-saving medical advances in diagnostic technology and treatments, the lightning-fast internet, and many other discoveries that revolutionized society and shaped our understanding of the universe. These technologies were developed over centuries of fundamental research on the properties of light, starting with Ibn al-Haytham's seminal work Kitab al-Manazir (Book of Optics), published in 1015, and including the work of Einstein at the beginning of the 20th century. It changed the way we think about time and light.

     The International Day of Lights celebrates the role light plays in science, culture and arts, education and sustainable development, and in various fields such as medicine, communication and energy. The celebration will provide the opportunity for many different societies around the world to participate in activities that show how science, technology, arts and culture can help UNESCO achieve its goals - to build the foundations of peaceful societies.

   International Day of Light is celebrated on May 16, the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicist and engineer Theodore Maiman. This day is a call to strengthen scientific cooperation and harness its potential to promote peace and sustainable development.

      We are witnessing the mysterious strategies of nature while examining the designs inspired by nature with our eTwinning project Hi Nature, which is about biomimicry. Our primary goal in the execution process of our project is to integrate our students with nature while making them realize the innovative benefits of scientific discoveries. In this context, Çelebi KALKAN and Dr. With a collaborative approach, different schools and our projects will come together in the 16 May International "LIGHT DAY" event, where science, art, culture and entertainment will be attended by Sümeyra AYIK teachers. You are invited to accompany us on this special day and have a different experience.

The most important aim of the HI-NATURE eTwinning Project is to give individuals the understanding that they are a part of nature. By seeing nature through an engineering design (Biomimicry) lens, we will stimulate our students' senses and trigger their curiosity. With this project, it is aimed to raise awareness about how Biomimicry, an application that learns and imitates the strategies found in nature, can be a tool of innovation and creativity in solving the problems we encounter. HI-NATURE eTwinning Projesinin en önemli amacı, bireylere doğanın bir parçası oldukları anlayışını vermektir. Doğayı bir mühendislik tasarımı (Biyomimikri) merceğinden görerek öğrencilerimizin duyularını harekete geçirecek ve meraklarını tetikleyeceğiz. Bu proje ile doğada bulunan stratejileri öğrenen ve taklit eden bir uygulama olan Biomimicry'nin karşılaştığımız sorunların çözümünde bir inovasyon ve yaratıcılık aracı olabileceği konusunda farkındalık yaratılması hedeflenmektedir.
